Musical Houses

If you're wondering why you haven't heard from us, we've been a bit busy. We moved this past weekend, and are now mostly settled in thanks to Jill and my mom. And now...the rest of the story.

We know Fred from church, and he offered to let us rent his vacation rental to spare himself the constant hassle of marketing to tourists. The new house has two bedrooms, which of course was enticing for a number of reasons -- not least of which was that Ava could have her own room. So we agreed to move and informed our landlords on Ohana Street, who promptly found another set of renters for the cottage.

All was well until a week before the move, when Fred informed us that he had been given the opportunity to move to the state of Washington, where schooling for his seven children would not bankrupt him. This is great for him, but not for us. By this time, it was too late to stay at the Ohana Street cottage, so this past Saturday we moved as planned. Some of the excitement was tempered, but we've warmed to the new place again.

Some of you may know all of this, but you probably don't know this: last night I received an email from our former landlady, who let us know that the couple moving into the cottage was instead divorcing. This is tragic for them, and leaves our former landlady in the lurch. And it is now a very real possibility that we could be moving back to Ohana Street within a few weeks.

So here we are on Auwinala Road, in a holding pattern. We'd appreciate your prayers as we wait for things to settle -- we need a place to land.

Sounds stressful, to say the least. You'll be in our prayers. Thank goodness Ava is young enough to go with the flow. Try playing musical houses with a two-year-old--not so fun. Isaiah wants to know why you don't just quit the Kailua rental scene and move to Texas.
